Our Story
Reverend Charles R. and Avis Bereal Founding Pastor | Man of Faith | Visionary
Reverend Charles R. Bereal, the first in his family to embrace Christ at a young age, was ordained as a Baptist Minister at 19. In 1961, at the age of 42, he and his wife, Avis, took the courageous step of founding Calvary Bible Church. It started humbly in the living room of their home, with a unique mission: to be a church that welcomed people from all denominations. Whether you were Four Square, AME, Baptist, COGIC, or Assembly of God, Calvary’s doors were open to you.
In the years that followed, Calvary’s affiliation with the Assemblies of God ministries marked an important chapter in our history. Reverend Charles Bereal led the church until his passing in 2013, continuing to embrace his vision of inclusivity even during the challenges of a global pandemic when many other churches had to close their doors.
Our Senior Pastor
Pastor A. Brent Paysinger Ordained Pastor | Community Leader | Servant
Pastor Brent serves as the Senior Pastor at Calvary Bible Church. His journey at Calvary, which began in late 2015, has been marked by divine elevation. As the Word of God reminds us, “Promotion doesn’t come from the east or from the west, it comes from the Lord.” In mid-February 2023, he was appointed as Assistant Pastor, paving the way for his eventual elevation to the position of Pastor—a true testament to his dedication and spiritual leadership.
Pastor Brent holds both an associate and bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, demonstrating his commitment to justice and righteousness. He furthered his academic pursuits by earning a master’s degree in theology and divinity, equipping him with profound spiritual insights to guide his congregation.
Pastor Brent Paysinger’s life is a living testament to his commitment to faith, community, and family. His unwavering dedication to uplifting others and spreading the message of love and empowerment is an inspiration to all who have the privilege of knowing him.
